- Is Asbestos hazardous if you don't touch it? This is a question that we receive quite often, and the answer is yes. While we certainly recommend against touching or disturbing Asbestos containing materials that you may find in your home, because this does increase the potential for dangerous Asbestos fibers to get into the air where they can be a danger to you and your family. You don't need to physically touch Asbestos materials for it to be a hazard. Unfortunately, there is a variety of ways that Asbestos fibers can get into the air from moisture and water damage that deteriorates the material, to pests and rodent infiltration, and even age. The Asbestos fibers are the real hazard and those can be in the air without you even realizing it because they are so small. So if you ever do see Asbestos materials in your home, we recommend bringing in a professional to ensure that it's addressed safely. Would you like to get your question answered by our experts?
