What does Fentanyl look like?
The illicit drug trade doesn't have a lot of "quality controls", so unfortunately Fentanyl can look different based on a number of factors. Fentanyl can be a powder, a tablet, or a liquid, and can be white, off-white, tan, or even brown. Due to the difficulty in identifying Fentanyl by sight alone, we recommend treating any unknown substance as potentially dangerous.
Can I just mop it up?
NO. Fentanyl can easily disolve into liquids, making it easier to absorb and potentially a lot more dangerous. In order to "clean up" Fentanyl, a specialty product must be used that neutralizes the drug.
Do you provide Fentanyl Remediation Services to Law Enforcement?
Yes we do. If you have a Fentanyl contamination issue in a cruiser, holding cell, or police station, please give us a call, we're happy to help.
Is there testing available?
Yes, it is possible to test an unknown substance to determine if it is Fentanyl. We are happy to assist with a referral to a qualified tester if you need one.
What are the health effects of not having Fentanyl properly remediated? What are the concerns?
Exposure to Fentanyl can result in health effects similar to those that occur in Fentanyl users, including potential overdose. Due to the potency of Fentanyl, it takes very little to affect an individual that may come in contact with it, particularly children who often play on floors and in carpet that Fentanyl may have been spilled on.
